It is an excellent galactagogue, and has been used as such for centuries. In one study of ten women, "the use of fenugreek significantly increased volume of breastmilk"

Forceful Let-down (Milk Ejection Reflex) & Oversupply https://kellymom.com/bf/got-milk/supply-worries/fast-letdown/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=fast-letdown Sat, 20 Aug 2011 06:55:54 +0000 http://kellymom.com/?p=2100 Is forceful let-down the problem?

Does your baby do any of these things?

Gag, choke, strangle, gulp, gasp, cough while nursing as though the milk is coming too fast

Galactorrhea (unexpected milk production) and other nipple discharge https://kellymom.com/bf/got-milk/supply-worries/galactorrhea/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=galactorrhea Thu, 28 Jul 2011 20:11:09 +0000 http://kellymom.com/?p=2110 Per Breastfeeding and Human Lactation (Riordan, 2004, p. 80), "Small amounts of milk or serous fluid are commonly expressed for weeks, months, or years from women who have previously been pregnant or lactating." The amount is most often very small, however, and spontaneous flow (leaking) generally stops within 2-3 weeks. Mothers who have breastfed for a longer duration may be able to express milk for a longer time after weaning. Any stimulation, e.g. checking to see if milk is still there, frequent breast self-exams, friction from a bra , stimulation during intercourse, etc., can cause further production.

I’m not pumping enough milk. What can I do? https://kellymom.com/hot-topics/pumping_decrease/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=pumping_decrease Mon, 24 May 2021 07:25:45 +0000 http://kellymom.com/?p=1480 Milk supply normally varies somewhat throughout the day and over weeks and months. As long as baby is allowed to nurse on cue, your milk supply will accomodate baby's needs. However, when mom is pumping part-time or full-time, pumping output can become an issue due to a few factors.

Increasing Low Milk Supply https://kellymom.com/hot-topics/low-supply/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=low-supply Wed, 10 Aug 2016 06:55:00 +0000 http://kellymom.com/?p=1469 First of all, is your milk supply really low? Often, mothers think that their milk supply is low when it really isn't. If your baby is gaining weight well on breastmilk alone, then you do not have a problem with milk supply. It's important to note that the feel of the breast, the behavior of your baby, the frequency of nursing, the sensation of let-down, or the amount you pump are not valid ways to determine if you have enough milk for your baby.

Let-down Reflex: Too slow? https://kellymom.com/bf/got-milk/supply-worries/letdown/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=letdown Fri, 19 Aug 2011 20:14:08 +0000 http://kellymom.com/?p=2114 It is normal for let-down not to feel as strong as your baby gets older. Some mothers never feel let-down, and some stop feeling the let-down sensation as time goes by. This does not necessarily indicate that let-down is not taking place.
