Meet Our Sponsor: Sarah Wells Breast Pump Bags

Support Communities are Super Important!

By Sarah Wells, CEO & Founder Sarah Wells Breast Pump Bags

The first year of motherhood is, without a doubt, thrilling and all-consuming. If you’re nursing and/or pumping, it can be hard to balance time, self-care, and more. While trying to figure out life with a newborn and embarking on your breastfeeding journey, one thing is clear: you need support. Support can take many forms – a partner, family, friends, lactation group, hospital meetings, new mom group or an online community.

Here at Sarah Wells Bags, I have learned that online communities play a huge role in helping mamas has been a great resource for mamas to reach their breastfeeding goals. Creating a community of mamas is also the center of my company mission.

Now infants can get
all their vitamin D
from their mothers’ milk;

Celebrating mamas in our online support community through a variety of breastfeeding journies!

Recently, I launched our “Very Important Pumpers” (VIPs) group on Facebook, where I can connect with customers, but most importantly, where moms can find other moms for support.  Through this amazing community, I have watched mamas share tips about traveling for work while pumping and sharing photos from all the lactation rooms in every city. On hard days, I see our VIP mamas reach out with the most inspiring words of encouragement to other breastfeeding mamas.

Once again, I’m so pleased to support KellyMom.com, one of my own go-to breastfeeding resources and a frequent source of education and inspiration for the mamas in our online community. For our partnership this month, I asked mamas, what are your best tips for starting out on a breastfeeding journey?

“Always having milk storage bags on hand in case you forget a bottle lid!” (Lexi C.)

“Just take it one day at a time.” (Brooke H.)

“Get yourself a hands-free pumping bra!” (Becky M.)

“Advocate for yourself while providing education for those around you if you are a working mama!” (Hannah M.)

“Celebrate each small milestone and make sure to treat yourself!” (Laura D.)

My breastfeeding journey was exclusively pumping for my oldest daughter, followed by nursing my second daughter. The girls welcomed a new cousin this year, and now I have the honor of supporting my youngest sister in her breastfeeding journey.

Mom support groups can provide advice and encouragement, and sometimes even a bit of humor. Finding support is a key part of a successful breastfeeding journey; and here at Sarah Wells Bags, I like to say: No matter how long your journey lasts, no matter what it looks like, you got this mama!

About Sarah Wells Breast Pump Bags:

After the birth of her daughter, Sarah had her entrepreneurial “light bulb moment” and launched Sarah Wells Breast Pump Bags, based on a stylish and functional designer handbag that replaces the frustrating tradition of carrying a cheap vinyl breast pump bag or five separate bags for all a mama’s “stuff”. Since that time, Sarah’s business has grown by leaps and bounds, while she speaks with women from across the country about the blessing and challenges of motherhood. Sarah is a mom, an entrepreneur and a women’s health advocate. Prior to starting her business, she spent 15 years running national nonprofit organizations committed to achieving quality healthcare for Americans, with a personal passion to improve policies for girls and women.

Sarah Wells offers handbags that fit all portable (and some hospital grade) breast pumps on the market, in a wide variety of styles, colors and prices. She also designed the popular “Pumparoo” pouch for breast pump parts (wet/dry bag), and the “Cold Gold” breastmilk cooler bag.
